A free request for ~LadyMiir for helping me out :3 She requested the 10th Doctor from Doctor Who, David Tennant. I got really excited by the request, 'cause I've been wanting to do this type of painting for quite a while xD (I have a whole list of people I want to paint, heh). I took it as a challenge and did the best I could, even if the resemblance isn't as strong as I wish it were. Thank you again!

No specific ref used (I just grabbed a whole bunch of pictures of him so I could learn his face...)

I was told way after that some of the refs I used were from an episode where he poses as some school teacher, and does wear a bowtie x'D Sorry.

Ohh, I love this, though, honestly, the likeness to David Tennant (10th Doctor) isn't too strong, since at first I thought it was Matt Smith (11th Doctor). Plus, Smith always wore the bow ties, coz' you know, "I wear bowties now. Bowties are cool." Tennant was the suit-with-longcoat-and-sneakers guy. (With brainy specs when he wanted to look smart.)

But I do enjoy the texture in here alot. Especially the hair.

Oh, it's okay. (Still like dat hair) Hmm, well then it was probably from one of those episodes with parties or something.

His hair tends to be an unkept mess that looks better that way anyways. Often has a pinstripe suit or a blue one with a brown trench-coat, a regular tie, and sneakers/converses. Yeah, it varies at times, but I think ever since 4 (Tom Baker) started doing that ridiculously long rainbow scarf thing, outfits started to be associated with a particular incarnation, so yea.

I don't know what you're refs look like, but there's always places like google and tumblr, non?

Yeah, that's actually where I got my refs xD It was odd, though, 'cause he just looked so different in every picture I found, so it was kinda tough.

Personally, I'd do practice sketches first, just to see if I can get the likeness down. But that's just me. As long as I can get certain key points down, I suppose it's all good. I don't really -consciously- think about this things too much, but I think one of the biggest reasons I first thought it was Smith (other than the bowtie) was likely the nose and perhaps the length of the face...

(maybe, maybe not)
